Since the advent of the first DIRT game, this series has really pushed the boundaries and created truly innovative UI, where the UI is an experience taking front and center for the first time. I really love this mold-breaking approach and decided to pay homage through a spin-off title DIRT Bike.
My thematic explorations lead me to a night desert thunderstorm, where raindrops randomly hit the camera and slowly drip down, distorting the imagery underneath it. The result is dark and nihilistic, and I kept to this direction even while exploring alternative presentations for the main menu.
After brainstorming then wireframing, I decided to present an FUE flow. Once the mockups were completed, I wanted to drive home the entire theme by creating an animated UI Concept. Here the subtlety of a drifting camera, depth of field fx, and low flashes of lightning won't get lost.
